Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 2025
Introduction
Tally is a mobile application that records daily movement and activities. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
No data is collected by the developer.
Data Storage
All data entered into Tally is stored locally on your device using Android's Room database. This includes:
- Activity entries (exercise type, quantity, timestamp)
- Exercise presets and customizations
- Settings preferences
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it or enable optional features described below.
No Data Collection
Tally does not:
- Collect or transmit any personal information
- Use analytics or tracking services
- Require user accounts or registration
- Access your location or other device data
- Share data with third parties
Optional Features
Cloud Backup (Future)
If you enable cloud backup (subscription feature), your data will be encrypted and stored on secure servers to enable syncing across devices. This feature is opt-in only and can be disabled at any time.
Health Connect Integration (Future)
If you enable Health Connect integration, Tally may:
- Import activity data (e.g., steps, walking time) from Health Connect into Tally
- Export your Tally entries to Health Connect for use by other apps
Health Connect integration is opt-in only, off by default, and uses Android's on-device health data platform. No data is sent to external servers.
Data Export
You may export your data as JSON for backup or transfer purposes. This export is performed locally on your device. You are responsible for the security of exported files.
Permissions
Tally requests minimal permissions:
- Internet (if cloud backup is enabled): Only used for syncing data when you explicitly enable cloud backup.
- Health Connect (if integration is enabled): Only used for reading/writing health data when you explicitly enable Health Connect integration.
All permissions are requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
Data Deletion
You can delete individual entries or all data at any time:
- Delete individual entries using the delete button in the app
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data from your device
- If cloud backup is enabled, contact support to request deletion of cloud-stored data
Children's Privacy
Tally does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since no data is collected, this is not applicable, but we state it for clarity.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when changes were made. Continued use of Tally after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
